The Statement Bra 3 Ways

| Lingerie

As full-blown lingerie addicts, we are never ones to shy away from a statement bra. In fact, it’s what we seek out. There’s nothing like the gorgeous “challenge” of peek-a-boo lace, decorative straps, or bold colors to kick our outfit planning into overdrive. We always start our days with something pretty and preferably lacy, but it gives us an extra thrill when we get to share it with the world (and, ahem, our Instagram followers). A fun bra is the perfect way to up your wardrobe options when your bank account is looking like Manhattan in August (for those of you from out of town, that’s pretttty empty), as a bold new underpinning can help put a new spin on your workhorse wardrobe favorites. Depending on how you style them, they can be demure, cheeky, or downright sexy. That being said, we understand rocking “bondage-inspired details” or “neon mesh” may not come as second nature to everyone. That’s where we step in. We already showed you how to style bodysuits depending on your lingerista comfort level , and we do the same for the statement bra below. Study up and get ready to show a little (or a lot of) skin.

To dip your toe into the world of statement bras, use it an accessory instead of making it the focal point of your outfit. Bring an unexpected flourish to your go-to favorite top with the bow on the back of the Le Petite Trou Sabine Bralette. Feel free to add a bold shoe and graphic earrings, but keep everything else simple to bring the look to the next level.

Refresh your trusted cutoff-and-crop-top combo with a peek of lace courtesy of the For Love & Lemons Kate Underwire Bra   The bold blue adds visual interest and a little bohemian sex appeal to an otherwise basic outfit. Neutral flats keep it effortless and a coordinating (but not matching!) bag pulls everything together.

At first glance the Lonely Cyd Bib Bra might come across as something best left to experienced lingerie addicts, but after trying it once, we promise you’ll be dying to wear it with all your little dresses (and the jaw dropping bib is removable, so if you can go from “#lingeriestyle maven” on Friday to “lover of the classic black demi” on Monday). For when you’re feeling fierce, pair it with your model-off-duty slip dress to stand out from the pack with a bold punch of lace. Leopard print clogs instead of heels make it cool, and a perfectly messy top knot and a healthy dose of highlighter finish the look.
