All New Yorkers (even transplants) are obsessed with the changes they see on their blocks as time passes. And no matter how much we still can’t believe that ‘inoteca is closed after a decade, we know there are thousands of LES natives who could never have even fathomed that their tenements would have had a wine bar in the ground floor in the first place. This is how it is in cities. Time passes, things change, neighborhoods grow and flourish and remake themselves and then fall out of fashion all over again. So, obviously, we are obsessed with Old NYC, a site that organizes the New York Public Library’s photographic archives of the city, block by block so we can see our city in flux.
We must confess: sometimes we get so wrapped up in our lacy office workflow that lunch consists of a handful of almonds and a
glass of rosé a thousand cups of coffee at 3pm. Inspired by this Lunch Al-Desko post (which we read too and immediately went and stocked our desk drawers with tiny tins of maldon and a bottle of Cholula – We’re looking at you AB + Aubs), a group of like-minded ladybosses started a lunch swap. Brilliant, no?
We hope you have a delicious weekend, darlings. Oh! Manhattanites, be sure to plant yourself – rose in hand – on 14th, 23rd, 34th or 42nd and catch the beauty that is Manhattanhenge tomorrow.
