So, this Drink/Delicate is a bit different than the Drink/Delicate posts of the past. Why, you ask? Well, because we asked our friend, nutritionist-turned restauranteur-Marissa Lippert of Nourish Kitchen + Table to create a bevvie for us. If you haven’t been to Nourish in the West Village, then get there. Health food that tastes good, looks good, and is good? As they say, “it’s all good.” As soon as we read the recipe, we made a bee-line for the greenmarket, and well, we
think know we’re better for it. A cocktail that uses fresh fruit + herbs is one that we certainly can feel good about.
I’m a huge fan of crafting cocktails based around seasonal fruits or herbs. One of my summer favorites includes baby tristar strawberries- which are all over the greenmarket right now. This drink’s a no-brainer for summertime brunches and effortless entertaining. And, it goes down easyyyy…sometimes a little too easy. I’ve paired the drink with the Stella McCartney (I’m a wee tad obsessed with her line) Giselle Charming Bra + Boyleg . Can’t go wrong with lace + a pretty pop of summertime color.
1 pint strawberries, cleaned and stemmed
2 tbsp lemon thyme simple syrup *recipe follows
1 tbsp St. Germain elderflower liqueur
1 bottle prosecco
Fresh lemon thyme sprig
Juice strawberries in a juicer or puree in a blender and strain well using a sieve or cheesecloth.
Combine juice with remaining ingredients, pour into a small pitcher and stir.
Serve in champagne coupes with a fresh sprig of lemon thyme.
*Lemon Thyme Simple Syrup: combine 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup water and 4-5 lemon thyme sprigs. Simmer until sugar dissolves. Remove lemon thyme sprigs and all to cool. If your greenmarket is flat out of lemon thyme, whip up a small batch of regular simple syrup (sugar + water) and pop a few lemon slices into the pitcher- crisis averted.
