Day two at Curve can be summed up in a few words- chic, soft, and subtly sexy. Blush tones and beautiful shapes from some old friends as well as some new standouts made the harsh lighting and sub-par coffee at the convention center bearable.
While Zinke and Ari Dein never disappoint, it was a real joy to preview their stunning SS13 collections. Ari has updated her Boutique Hotel Chemise in a gorgeous emerald color and Zinke is successfully establishing itself as a go-to for chic bohemians. Monaco-based newcomer Minuit Douze was another one of the show’s highlights for me. The young line is created with the traveling woman in mind- and if the look-book is any indication of where you’ll go in these pieces, I’m totally on board.
Here’s to a great day two…
Having watched Ari launch her line a few years ago, I feel a strange mixture of pride and awe when I watch her unveil collection after collection with growing grace and confidence. SS13 brings a new sultriness to some beloved classics – a sheer lace back, a strategically-placed cutout, a cheeky scalloped edge. Could it be that baby’s all grown up?
Perhaps it as the amazing purr with which her French accent pronounced the word “frou frou”, or the sun-soaked European jaunt depicted in the lookbook, but never have I quite ached to be French and clad in glamorous underthings as much as I did after spending a half hour with Marketing Director Marielle Tortorelli. This young line has a story to tell and we’re listening.
In a sea of embellishment (and often in the lingerie world, bows), seeing the Zinke line at the end of a long day at Curve is like a deep breath of pure mountain air. This season’s collection relies on clean, confident cuts and mesmerizing color, resulting in a lineup that’s ethereal while still being effortlessly wearable.
