Spring Preview – Day One at Curve, New York

| Lingerie

I have to admit that, once or twice a year, there’s a brief period when I start to forget how great it is to be a lingerie buyer.  July is a time of transition for our business – an in-between-seasons type of month that makes me feel like I’m holding my breath until the inevitable, amazing explosion of color and newness that comes with fall.

Yet even before the new deliveries start flooding in, something always snaps me out of my funk, and that’s the first glimpses at next year’s lingerie.  I came back from my first day at this year’s CURVE – the preeminent lingerie trade show in the US – buoyant with excitement for the new season and already a little obsessed with some of the pieces I’d seen.  Here are some of my favorites from day one:

Naked Princess Silk Chiffon bodysuit ($290)
A delectable chiffon and lace bodysuit that’s just begging to be paired with my favorite pencil skirt – made even lovelier in the richest chocolate brown.  The rest of the collection from this new brand is equally stunning.

Les Jupons de Tess silk top and lace panty (price TBD)
Part old world French charm, part sultry Italian screen siren.  With evident inspiration from Marcello Mastroianni’s La Dolce Vita, Les Jupons de Tess presents what I think is their strongest season yet.

Olivia von Halle Lila pyjama set (approx. $400)
Having lusted after these luscious, slightly extravagant pajamas online for months, Olivia von Halle’s debut at Curve made my day.  Can’t say yet whether I’m more taken with a) the perfect detailing, b) the sumptuous colors, c) the elegant English lifestyle that they seem fit for or d) Olivia herself.
