Heirlooms in the making

| Lingerie

I’ve never been married, but I’ve always secretly felt sorry for brides when it comes to garters. Blazingly white, often scratchy and usually over-adorned, they seem like just the thing to ruin a perfectly nice tradition.

That was before Florrie Mitton appeared on the scene. It was designer Claire’s own wedding in Italy that inspired her to give garters a much-needed makeover. She left her job as a lingerie designer to create couture garters that “combine modern elegance with vintage appeal”. We say she succeeded. Made of luxurious silks and embellished with vintage trims, Florrie Mitton garters look like they’re meant to be passed down to the next generation, not thrown into a rowdy crowd of men.

So, brides, go ahead – make your own heirloom.
