Though the years have passed since Coco Chanel’s time, I’m not sure nautical stripes have ever really gone out of style.  Yet something funny was underfoot in Paris this last weekend:  those stripes were everywhere.

As we wandered the Marais (sleepy and jet-lagged after our red-eye flight), we found nautical-inspired stripes in nearly every store we entered.  Big brand flagships to small designer boutiques – it seemed that everyone translated that iconic item for Spring.  As if on cue, our last stop was a vintage store where we came face-to-face with a 7’ rack of well-worn, striped boatneck shirts.  There must have been hundreds of those shirts, from every era since the ‘30s.

We couldn’t stop laughing as we slowly ambled back to the hotel – are we doing this again, Paris?  Really?  Ok, count us in.
